You can own an individual policy between the ages of 6 months and 69 years old. When getting a family plan, the children need to be between 15 days old and less than 18 years old. Children born into a family plan are “grandfathered” in.
You must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant who maintains a permanent residence in Canada. You must read and speak English or French, and be between 18 years and 69 years.
At the age of 25 years a child in the family plan will be able to convert their plan to an individual plan, which they will own until it expires at age 85.
The plan continues for the spouse and the dependents.
The policy terminates at age 85.
Accidental Death by Common Carrier will pay a lump sum up to $400,000 if you or a family member* dies as a fare paying passenger in a regularily scheduled common carrier. ie. A commercial airplane or bus.
Accidental Death from all other causes will pay up to $200,000 if you or a family member * dies from any other covered accident.
For single dismemberment, a lump sum of up to $100,000 will be paid to you or a family member* for loss of limb, sight in one eye, hearing in both ears, or speech as a result of a serious accident
For multiple dismemberments, a lump sum of up to $200,000 will be paid to you or a family member* for the loss of two or more limbs, sight in both eyes, permanent loss of speech and hearing in both ears, or any combination of two or more of these losses.

Premiums are based on the benefit selected at time of application as well as whether it is an Individual or a Family plan.
No, participation as a paid sports professional or participating in any extreme sport such as sky diving, bungee jumping or racing of any kind is an exclusion with this plan.
Pre authorized withdrawal from a checking account is set up during the application process for the initial premium which comes out within 3 – 5 days of application submission and the recurring premium which comes out on the selected preferred billing date.
